In terms of thermal and mineral springs Slovakia belongs to one of the richest countries in Europe. Of all of these various spa resorts, Piestany is the best known. The water and mud in Piestany is rich in sulphur and is excellent especially for the treatment of rheumatism and other disorders of motion.
Piestany mud is mentioned as early as the 16th century. Many important people visited and took treatments in Piestany, including Beethoven.
The spa is located on the beautiful Spa Island in a large park where many concerts and cultural events take place during the whole year.
