SIGHTSEEING & HIKING across SLOVAKIA

Day 1
The city of Bratislava, established in the 13th century –sightseeing during the day and night. (the historical centre, the gothic church St. Martins dom, the castle), dinner in one of the finest restaurants in the centre.

Day 2
Banska Stiavnica (UNESCO site) – a historical mining city in central Slovakia, visit to the mine dating back to the 17th century, and a guided walking tour in the Stiavnicke vrchy mountains (difficulty grade 1-1,5), in the evening: splendid folk music programme.

Day 3
Admirable mountain village Vlkolinec (UNESCO site), a chairlift and then
hike to the chest of the Low Tatras. Lunch at a cosy mountain chalet, then
the hike continues on the chest and down to the Demänovska valley -
beautiful views on the both sides of the mountain range (Difficulty: grade
3-3.5)

Day 4
Hiking in the amazing High Tatras, nice view and waterfalls – the highest in
the High Tatras. In the evening: a traditional dinner in a shepherds cottage
complete with local folk music – Fujara – the most traditional Slovak folk
instrument (UNESCO List of the Masterpieces of the Oral and Intangible
Heritage).

Day 5
In the morning hiking in the picturesque Slovensky raj (Slovak paradise)
mountain range – peaceful woods but also canyons, rocky terraces.
(Difficulty: grade 3-3.5).
In the afternoon: the splendid historical city of Levoca (UNESCO site), a
gothic church complete with wooden altars of Master Paul –the highest in the
world is more than 16 m high.

Day 6
Transfer to the Mala Fatra mountains, with hiking in canyons, waterfalls, and up ladders – just exciting! (Difficulty: grade 3-3.5).

Day 7
A short stay in the world-famous Piestany spa – not only famous is Piestany
mud but a wide range of other treatments is also available. Accommodation: *** hotel in Piestany
Day 8
Departure (programme of the day shall be adjusted to the flight schedule).

The scale of the hiking routes used here is on a scale of 1-5 grades. Grade’s 1-2 represent an easy walk with little or no climbing and descending, while grade’s 4-5 stands for heavy hiking, including climbing on rocks with the support of chains. Grade 3 is an average hike or climb.
